Living in an Age of Indifference: Online Lecture

15 January @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Living in an Age of Indifference: Exploring the Roots of Spiritual Protest in the Works of William Temple and Dorothy Day

Recognising the polarising indifference capturing increasing global attention, where do we look for direction? William Temple and Dorothy Day’s theology of the incarnation direct our vision to recapture the dignity and self-worth of all humanity in an age where dehumanising forces grow stronger. Forces which seek to undermine the protection of marginalised individuals and community which are categorised as ‘other’. Temple and Day speak into today’s context with profound truth in seeking to rise above dissension and restore equitable justice for all.

In this webinar, convened by the William Temple Foundation, Ryan Bennett will present his reflections before hearing responses from Professor William Storrar (Director of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton) and the Very Revd Sally Foster-Fulton (Christian Aid Scotland).

Ryan Bennett is a final year PhD candidate in Divinity at the School of Divinity in the University of Edinburgh. He is a priest in the Scottish Episcopal Church. His PhD research concentrates on 20th Century Christian Socialism within the U.S. & U.K. focusing on William Temple and Dorothy Day.
