READ WRITE HEAR

Reading aloud matters in churches—where scripture is proclaimed, and where the spoken word shapes worship and meaning. But beyond church life, public and communal reading has largely faded from view. READ WRITE HEAR is a live, hands-on event that explores how reading has been shared, spoken, and shaped by voice, setting, and gesture across time.

Led by Dr Elspeth Jajdelska (University of Strathclyde), the event invites participants to explore different ways of reading—from literature to ceremony—and to reflect on how reading works in practice, from sacred spaces to everyday life.
