Collation at St Peter’s, Musselburgh

The Revd Daniel (Dani) Muñoz Triviño received a warm welcome to Edinburgh Diocese at his collation as Priest-in-Charge of St Peter’s, Musselburgh, on 20 November.

Dani and his husband Guy moved to Musselburgh from Andalucia in Southern Spain where they had been running a retreat ministry, Los Olivos, since 2010. Los Olivos explored the intersection between Christianity and creativity in all its forms, from painting and poetry to film and music – even cooking! – and welcomed visitors from all over the world, but particularly the UK.

After feeling that God was calling him to journey with people for a longer spell than the one-week span of a retreat, Dani began to research the options, including in other parts of Europe and in Canada.

As he describes on the podcast of St Peter’s, Musselburgh, Dani looked on the website of the Edinburgh Diocese one morning, ‘prompted, I now believe, by the Holy Spirit’, and found details of the Musselburgh vacancy. ‘As I read it, my heart instantly warmed to you guys,’ he told his new congregation.

Asked what he would like prayers for, now he is in post, Dani said, ‘for God to continue to sustain us, to fill us with faith and trust that with God all things are possible, and that by trusting in God we can together grow more and more into the likeness of Christ’.
