Project CARE has recently released a video that gives a flavour of an inspiring evening of food and cultural sharing at St Ninian’s Episcopal Church, Comely Bank.
The CARE in Project CARE stands for Community Action for and with Refugees in Edinburgh. Its activities include classes at St Ninian’s on Mondays and Wednesdays, and an English conversation café on Saturdays.
At the end of 2024, some of the people who had attended activities at St Ninian’s cooked a meal for guests involved in Project CARE and shared information about their own cultures.
The Very Reverend Frances Burberry, Dean of the Diocese, who is also rector of St Ninian’s, welcomed everyone present, and expressed a hope that it would be the first of many such evenings: ‘If we form connections with each other, this world will be a better place.’
One of the men who has attended Project CARE events said he wants to stay in Edinburgh to keep coming to the project, ‘because I love it’.
Lei Garcia of Project CARE said: ‘This is a place of welcome, a place of connection. We are here as human beings together in one purpose, and that is to love each other.’
