The Right Revd Dr Anne van Gend was ordained and installed as the 11th Bishop of Dunedin, New Zealand, on Saturday 29 March.

Bishop Anne is well known in the Diocese of Dunedin where she served as Diocesan Ministry Enabler and then Diocesan Ministry Educator. Before her ordination as a Deacon in 1997 and to the priesthood in 1998, Bishop Anne had worked as a music therapist and English and music teacher in Australia, Zambia and South Africa. She received her DPhil from Victoria University in 2015.
The Right Revd Dr John Armes, Bishop of Edinburgh, said: “Warm congratulations to the Ven Dr Anne van Gend. There has been a longstanding link between our two dioceses – ‘the Edinburgh of the north and the Edinburgh of the south’ – and I hope that this will thrive under the new bishop. I pray for Anne and all the people of Dunedin Diocese that this may be a season of spiritual refreshment, bringing peace and hope to our troubled world.”
