Diocesan Office Relocation

The General Synod Office has now announced (see Inspires Online) that it is to move to a new home in Edinburgh city centre, while the long-term future of Forbes House is addressed. This has become necessary due to a number of operational and maintenance issues which have been identified at the long-term home of the GSO in Grosvenor Crescent, and which require immediate attention.
The move is expected to take place before the end of this year.
As Edinburgh Diocesan Office is a tenant of the basement at Forbes House, it requires us to seek new premises as well. An offer has been made to the diocese to co-locate with the GSO to its new home, and modern office space has been identified close to the existing GSO premises which would allow space for the Diocesan Office staff as well.
A small working group within the diocese is now looking at the options of sourcing our own premises as well as discussing the offer of co-locating with the GSO.
As we will be administering the process of electing a new bishop in the next few months this move comes at a challenging time, but is necessary. There will be more news in The Communicant as negotiations progress towards finding us a new home.
