Just Knowing: Creating Knowledge That Honors Marginalized Voices (Online)

20 May @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This year’s David Goodbourn Lecture will explore the theme “Just Knowing: How Do We Create Knowledge That Does Justice to Marginalised Voices?” A central topic of the lecture is the ongoing struggle for justice expressed through the cry “Nothing about us without us,” emphasizing the need for inclusion and recognition of marginalized groups as fully human.

The lecture will feature insights from Project Violet, a three-year initiative that explores the experiences of women in ministry within the Baptist tradition. Utilizing Theological Action Research, the project has provided space for Baptist women to address theological, missional, and structural barriers, culminating in 57 requests for change.

Guest speakers for the evening will include Dr. Helen Cameron and Revd Jane Day, both from Regent’s Park College, Oxford, who will share their expertise and the findings of this important project. The evening promises a thought-provoking discussion on how we can create knowledge that not only amplifies marginalized voices but also paves the way for transformative change.
