The Diocesan Synod is the overarching governing body of the Diocese of Edinburgh. Membership consists of principal office holders, such as The Bishop and The Dean, as well as all instituted clergy or those holding a Licence or Commission, and a Lay Representative from each congregation. A certain number of members, from the House of Clergy and the House of Laity, are elected to serve on General Synod as well. Synod meets twice a year, in the Spring and in the Autumn.
