The Diocesan Synod is the overall governing body of the diocese. As well as electing members of the Diocesan Standing Committee, it also elects members to Provincial bodies and to the General Synod of the SEC.

It consists of the Bishop (who chairs Synod), Instituted, Licensed and Commissioned clergy, senior lay officers and one Lay Representative from each congregation.

It meets at least once a year, usually in the Spring.
