Death and Funerals
Many people come to the church during moments of grief around the death of a loved one, and the Christian tradition offers much to sustain and give comfort during this time. We can also help with the planning and the conducting of the funeral service.
You can contact your local rector directly for support during this time, or you can contact your local church through the undertaker, who will normally help you through the process of arranging a funeral.
The service can take place either in the church or at the crematorium or both – a priest will be happy to advise through this process. The two main crematoria are at Mortonhall and Warriston, and the City of Edinburgh also maintains cemeteries – please see the Cemetries in Edinburgh page on the Council’s website. Your undertaker will be able to advise.
