The Reverend Canon Liz O’Ryan, Rector of Holy Trinity, Haddington, has been installed as the Synod Clerk of the Diocese of Edinburgh.

The installation took place during Choral Evensong on Sunday 19 October at St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh following Liz’s election at an Electoral Synod Meeting on 27 September.

Commenting on her role, Liz said:

“I was delighted and honoured to accept the role of Synod Clerk, a position from which I hope to be of support to my colleagues and the Lay Reps of this Diocese.

“The service of installation at the Cathedral was a very personal and moving evening, which I was honoured to share with my family and friends from Holy Trinity, alongside other members of the Diocese.

“Being a ‘people’ person I hope to build upon the sense of collegiality already in the Diocese, being present to both newer clergy to the area as well as to those who have served longer.

“In this time of change I also look forward to working with and supporting our new Bishop once they have been appointed.”
