A retreat for summer, available online and yours to do in your own time, at home or away. Includes reflections to listen to and other material to read and linger with in an attractive printed booklet.
Being in nature is a source of consolation for many of us, perhaps without fully knowing why. This retreat is an invitation to look long and deeply, and reflect on how we might read the signature of the Creator in the hills, the trees, the wingbeats of a ladybird, an opening flower. Who is the God we meet in this complex, fragile, surprising world? What do we learn about the earth and about ourselves? How do we respond?
The retreat draws on the Psalms, poetry, images and other writing, including Annie Dillard’s wonderful classic of nature writing and spirituality, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek. It includes some hints and suggestions for reflections to do outside in the natural world.
