The Sanctuary Course, 7th October and fortnightly
The Sanctuary Course is a study guide for small groups, designed to raise awareness and start conversations in churches regarding mental health. It is for anyone who wants to learn about faith and mental health. It requires no previous training or expertise—just a willingness to engage in dialogue with others. The Course uses films to share the voice of lived experience, emphasising various aspects of the realities of living with mental health challenges. Mental health professionals, theologians, and church leaders contribute insights, helpful biblical integration, and ideas for community support. Participants watch the films together during group meetings, followed by time for reflection and discussion.
The Cathedral and Faith in Older People are delighted to collaborate to offer this course with meetings held in central Edinburgh. Four fortnightly meetings from 7th Oct to 18th Nov; and then four further sessions from 13th Jan to 24th Feb. This course is free of charge.
