How did upright Presbyterian Scotland become a leading slaver nation? How did treating people as ‘chattels’ escalate into barbarous cruelty and inhuman profit? This event opens up archive material to reveal first-hand experiences and attitudes that bring home a vital part of Scotland’s national story.

Hosted by Kate Philips, author of Bought and Sold: Scotland, Jamaica and Slavery, poet and storyteller Lorna Callery-Sithole and Donald Smith, with Thabo MokolobateBontle BotsaloMichael Daviot and diverse sources.
